Good morning, Cafe!
Hope your morning is off to a good start….improve it with our patented good morning coffee!
All are welcome to join the fun, the silliness, the conversations. If you don’t know...just ask! Some things really do require a bit of explanation.
There will be a few surprises along the way, all good ones, we hope.
We are here to keep building the Daily Kos Community.
We post Mon-Sun at 10:30 a.m. Eastern.
Pie fights will be met with outrageous ridicule and insults. Trolls will be incinerated and served at the next group BBQ. As briquettes.
Have a nosh of goodness, while you’re at it!
Last Tuesday, while watching NCIS, a wonderful poem was quoted. It’s about losing a loved one, and I just had to go look it up.
It’s called Epitaph, by Merrit Malloy. Here it is:
When I die
Give what’s left of me away
To children
And old men that wait to die.
And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you.
And when you need me,
Put your arms
Around anyone
And give them
What you need to give to me.
I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words
Or sounds.
Look for me
In the people I’ve known
Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on your eyes
And not on your mind.
You can love me most
By letting
Hands touch hands,
By letting
Bodies touch bodies,
And by letting go
Of children
That need to be free.
Love doesn’t die,
People do.
So, when all that’s left of me
Is love,
Give me away.
Such a simple poem, but full of wisdom and comfort.
It’s suddenly dusty in here, again!
What’s on your mind this morning?
