Here’s another name for the list of people for whom I feel no pity.
Washington, DC news station WUSA reports that Christopher Worrell, a member of the Proud Boys who was arrested in connection with the January 6 insurrection, has contracted the novel coronavirus while in jail. Cue the tiny violins, please.
Worrell's attorney argues that his client should be freed from pretrial detention after he came down with COVID-19. The tough guy who pepper-sprayed Capitol Police officers is now apparently too fragile to remain locked up.
His attorney, Allen Orenberg, claims that Worrell is especially vulnerable to COVID-19 due to his compromised immune system, resulting from recent treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Not so fast! says Judge Beryl Howell, Chief United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Her honor questioned whether Worrell's risk from COVID-19 is really a concern, noting that the proud momma’s boy attended the January 6th riots without wearing a mask at a time when the virus was spreading throughout the country like wildfire.
