Good afternoon. The morning started with the judge talking to the jury without audio/video. Turns out it was questioning them about jury misconduct. Judge satisfied there wasn’t any. We weren’t told what the alleged conduct might have been. Next wrangling over Motions in Limine — whether or not to exclude or admit certain video testimony by both prosecution and defense. Some admitted, some excluded, some to be decided when witness is there to authenticate.
ER Dr. Langenfeld, licensed just last summer, was a superb witness re: his experience with the paramedics and working on Mr. Floyd. He held up very well under cross examination. Strong witness.
The Prosecutor Blackwell will continue with Chief Addonado. Most of the morning concerned his bona fides and department policies re: training, use of force, and de-escalation. Everything I’ve read and everyone who is commenting on WaPo has discussed how utterly extraordinary it is that a Chief would testify either for a prosecution or defense. In this case, prosecution as had multiple LEO witnesses testifying. WaPo team finds that to be a powerful influence on a jury.
I’m watching on WaPo's livestream. You can also view via NYT, CSpan, and many other local and national online media.
