The WaPo article which prompted this was the second most read story on their website.
Reading the Washington Post article “Trump is sliding toward online irrelevance. His new blog isn’t helping. The former president’s aides said his new online presence would ‘redefine the game.’ But his heavily promoted blog is seeing few visitors” it occurred to me that despite the fact that Trump still is worshiped by Republicans in Congress what he really cares about is being the focus of idolatry by the his MAGA masses. (You can view some screen shots of his blog without click there by looking at the diary I posted on May 5th.)
If you think back you may recall when HUFFPOST reported on the Trump campaign in their entertainment news section and then changed the practice and put stories about him back in their regular political news section. This was announced in a column by Arianna Huffington titled “A Note on Trump: We Are No Longer Entertained” on Dec. 12, 2015.
The Washington Post article was published in the Technology section. It wasn’t published in the regular news section or under politics. This may tell you something about Trump’s slide towards irrelevancy.
Consider which Republican is getting the most coverage these days.
It would seem to me that Marjorie Taylor Greene, who I predict will soon dump her road-tour sidekick Matt Gaetz as excess baggage and damaged goods (see latest news), is the current GOP rock star.
If Trump, not that he’s be one for honest self-reflection, looked in his magic mirror and asked “who is the fairest Republican of them all” I think the mirror, which does not lie, would tell him it was Marjorie Taylor Greene.
If he dared ask who was the favorite politician of them all in the country was he wouldn’t need a magic mirror. He’d just have to look at the polls.
