Nittens are in the House
Chapter 2
Who Eviscerated the Mousie Toy?
It was late, or maybe even early morning; anyway, it was still dark. Mama and Papa were sleeping. Jingle Dog had been sleeping on his back and loudly snoring for hours. Grumpy Dog always snored when he slept. The quiet peaceful sounds of a good night’s sleep had settled in a harmonious rhythm over the house. But the nittens were restless.
Violet left her usual nighttime sleeping place, as near Mama’s face as Mama would allow, to go see if there was sufficient kibble in the bowl. Griffin jumped down from the high dresser to go see what Violet was up to. They both
slipped under the baby gate, strategically placed in the open doorway, so the nittens could slip under it, but it blocked the dogs. It was getting to be a little bit of a tight squeeze for Griffin. He bumped the door. It swung back and disturbed The Squeaky MouseTM.
The Squeaky MouseTM let out a bloodcurdling yelp, startling Griffin. Violet, being a ninja, sprang into action, swatting at the hideous beast! She knew she hit it at least once, but it screamed louder as it swung away, and then made an arching turn and started coming back! Still screaming! It was terrifying! Make it stop screaming! Griffin regained his composure and joined the fight. BAM! POW!! THUMP! ZAP! All the Batman words we can think of!
Suddenly, while in the throes of a desperate fight to save the entire household from The Squeaky MouseTM, something round and hard flew from the dreaded beast’s body. It slid across the floor and bounced against the wall, screaming all the way. The screaming stopped when the round, hard thing thumped against the wall and ceased its motion. The Squeaky MouseTM had finally been silenced! The beast would no longer endanger the nitten’s family home! Celebration songs to commemorate the deed will be sung about this mighty battle for generations! Violet and Griffin composed the victory song on the spot! It’s very descriptive and gory, as all good victory songs are! And thus began the legend of Violet, Warrior Princess!
In the clear light of the following day, a small group gathered to survey the devastation at the scene of the battle.
I wonder where the sound box is now? I remember seeing it that morning, but haven’t seen nor heard it since.
The Nittens learned about a week later that The Squeaky MouseTM tribe is more than a tribe of one. Mama and Papa, having parented a pair of Nittens before, knew that Nittens require a tribe of mousies to meet their needs and bought no fewer than 4! The battle shall be joined again!
