The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) has a new estimate of deaths from Covid-19 in the US and around the world. For the US, they estimate that as of May 3rd, the toll is 905,289 people have died from COVID-19, compared to the official tally of 574,043. Worldwide, the estimate is 6.93 million deaths compared to 3.24 million officially reported deaths. Fortunately, the US death rate (i.e., deaths per 100,000) is not among the 20 highest with Azerbaijan leading with 649/100k estimated vs. 45/100k reported.
It’s hard to believe that the failure of Trump and his “administration” to deal with the pandemic is so much greater than we thought. And it was intentional. And it should be considered a crime against humanity. And about half the country voted for him and would likely do so again. Who are we? Where are we?
