But also pointing out that at least one Republican Governor is not batshit crazy, for now.
I just received this from Governor Scott (R) Vermont.
Dear Carmen:
Thank you for your previous outreach. We wanted to share the below news regarding Vermont’s COVID-19 response. Earlier today, Governor Scott announced the state hit its 80% vaccination goal and has lifted all state COVID-19 restrictions, effective immediately. Please see the announcement below for more information.
Sincerely,

It goes on.
GOVERNOR PHIL SCOTT ANNOUNCES STATE HAS REACHED ITS 80% VACCINATION GOAL; LIFTS ALL STATE COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS
Montpelier, Vt. - Governor Phil Scott today announced that 80.2% of Vermont’s eligible population - those age 12 and older - have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, making it the first state to reach this major milestone.
Governor Scott also announced he has rescinded all state COVID-19 restrictions. Additionally, Vermont’s State of Emergency, slated to expire on June 15, will not be renewed.
“Now that we have hit 80%, as promised and effective immediately, I am lifting all remaining state pandemic restrictions and the State of Emergency will formally end at midnight June 15,” announced Governor Scott at a press conference Monday. “And here’s why: Because it’s safe to do so. It is safe because Vermonters have done their part to keep spread of the virus low throughout the pandemic and stepped up to get vaccinated. In fact, no state in the nation is in a better or safer position to do this than we are.”
So. What to think? I do write to him occasionally and respectfully but I do not vote for him. Most of my entire voting career has been largely defensive, not very much offensive, as in in favor of V being oh so very very against. He does make some bone head moves but mostly not. Pot is moving to be more and more legal here. We had a statewide mask mandate and I know of only one instance of covidiacy regarding that. This could go on and on obviously. But now I wonder if it might be possible to vote for an R for governor of Vermont. (I just checked my finger tips to see if they caught fire for typing that last sentence. All is well.)
I may have to write him next time around in the event that the alleged party he still claims membership of has no platform. Perhaps he has a personal platform that he would be willing to share. There are no term limits here in Vermont but this is his third time. He is only, or, already 62. Some things to think about.
And I am still masking indoors in public. Don’t want to be mistaken for a Ruthuglican.
