The right-wing noise machine is going ballistic and calling for a boycott of Heineken beer, after Heineken NV ran a minute-long ad on social media Thursday, which shows senior citizens dancing in a nightclub to Sylvester’s 1970s disco song “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)”, frolicking on the beach and drinking the popular, green-bottled beer. It ended with the message - “The night belongs to the vaccinated. Time to join them.”
To the average sane person, this is an exhilarating and socially-responsible ad with a positive message about how we can get back to some sense of normalcy by getting vaccinated and beating the COVID -19 virus. Please take a look -
But for the republican establishment (aka trump supporters), this ad strikes fear in their hearts and their loins, who see it as a threat to their crusade to stop their flock from getting vaccinated. And they probably hate people who dance, even the elderly.
Question — Do trump supporters drink Heineken?
Right-wing anti-vaccine hysteria
The right-wing anti-vaccination hysteria has been reaching a feverish pitch lately, with everyone from republican politicians to right-wing media outlets and personalities and social media trolls, bleating with one voice — that vaccinations are evil, Biden and Democrats are Nazis, etc.
Raw Story has long list of republican personalities joining the chorus with their own despicable statements, but all marching to the same tune, being played by trump or one of his enablers.
Fox as usual is deep into anti-vaccine conspiracy theories -
They have taken the following statement by Biden — “We need to go to community-by-community, neighborhood-by-neighborhood and, oftentimes, door-to-door, literally knocking on doors to get help to the remaining people protected from the virus," twisted its meaning beyond recognition and used it to demonize Democrats and Biden as Nazis, likened it to apartheid and forced sterilization, and are instilling fear into their flock that Democrats are coming for their bible and their guns.
The right-wing cacophony class listed in www.rawstory.com/… includes Tucker Carlson, Charlie Kirk, Brian Kilmeade, Laura Ingraham and Tomi Lahren. There are many more on social media.
And it’s not just the chattering class, the entire GOP seems to have signed up for this crusade. The list include Ron Johnson, Chip Roy, Jim Jordan, Dan Crenshaw, Madison Cawthorn, Missouri GOP Gov. Mike Parson, Lauren Boebert, MJT and others.
Charlie Sykes calls it “A Depraved Indifference To Human Life.”
Charlie Sykes writes -
How to describe the enormity of the malignancy here? Words like “irrational” and “insane,” don’t cover it.
In the law, however, there is category known as “depraved indifference to human life,” which “reflects a wicked, evil or inhuman state of mind, as manifested by brutal, heinous and despicable acts. It is evinced by conduct that is wanton, deficient in a moral sense of concern, and devoid of regard for the life or lives of others.”
It fits.
Epilogue
How this will end is difficult to predict. COVID-19 infections and deaths are rising in republican strongholds and hospitals and doctors are bending under the strain caused by the the Delta variant. More virus variants may arise as the virus spreads in these non-vaccinated communities.
However, some republicans are coming to the realization that the virus is not a hoax especially when someone in the family ends up in the hospital. Will the trump base finally get tired of this daily dose of lies and deceptions, which does nothing to improve their lives? Will they realize that trump and his enablers are simply conning them into parting with their money while endangering their lives and livelihoods? Or will more and more republicans get drawn into this black hole created by trump, attracted to its appeals of racism, resentment and victimhood?
What do you think?
