Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL-16) has accepted Speaker Pelosi’s invitation to serve on the bipartisan January 6th Select Committee. This was perhaps not unexpected, but now we have two Republicans with the courage to stand up for truth and to serve the nation they have sworn to serve. How many more are there?
Bravo and Thank You!
Some reactions to the announcement
This takes guts because he will be in the cross hairs of the entire GOP, which is nothing more than the party of trump at this point.
Let’s keep in mind, Kinzinger and Cheney are Republicans, not Democrats. But we need to support and encourage more Republicans like these.
Let’s frame it right!
About Adam Kinzinger
Rep. Kinzinger serves as a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Kinzinger is a military veteran who has served in the Air Force in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Kinzinger continues to serve his country as a pilot in the Air National Guard, with the current rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
In 2007, he received the United States Air Force Airman's Medal for saving the life of a young woman who was being violently attacked. He wrestled the knife away from the attacker and pinned him to the ground until the police arrived.
At the age of 42, Congressman Kinzinger is one of the youngest Members of Congress, yet he ranks in the top half of seniority in the full House of Representatives.
He voted for the impeachment in January.
There is something about those who have served in uniform that sets them apart from the rest of the deplorables in the GOP.
Epilogue
Who else do you think should be offered the opportunity to serve on the committee, who are likely to accept the daunting task of standing up for the truth? How about Rep. Peter Meijer (R-MI-3), another veteran, who has spoken out boldly against the “treacherous snakes” in his party?
