Was about to turn in for night, my nightly routine to make to rounds of those in media I follow just to make sure I didn’t miss anything!!
Tonight I found an amazing piece by Josh Marshall on Biden’s decision on Afghanistan and why it was the right decision. It may be the most intelligent thing I’ve heard from anyone and not just because I agreed with what he wrote.

Trillions of US dollars spent and even worse, thousands of Americans lives lost, and when the shit hit the fan, the president of Afghanistan fled the country. Would not surprise me to learn later that he accepted money to do so.
When Biden last spoke on this subject that Afghanistan had 700,000 in ground forces and 70,000 in its air force yet they were overtaken by 30,000 Taliban forces? This was always going to be the case whether now, or ten years ago. Ten years longer was never going to make a difference.
The media has made little mention of how the policy of the domestic terrorist who occupied the White House allowed the Taliban to reform and actually get larger. They were primed and ready for when the day came and all Afghan forces did was wave them on through.
Should Biden have known that 700,000 Afghan troops were going to stand down and their president was going to flee? Certainly his military commanders responsible to security in the area would have known what Afghan forces were going to do.
Josh Marshall does a far better job than I can regarding Biden’s decision and why he was right all along. Biden wouldn’t knowingly put non-military Americans in immediate harm so someone will have to be held accountable for that. How much did they know and when did they know it.
It was going to be bad no matter when it was done. Too much American blood has been spilled, too much money spent when it’s needed at home.
Biden will continue to get raked by a small portion of electorate, he doesn’t take action because of public opinion polls and for that he also deserves credit. It takes a lot of courage to make an unpopular decision and stick to it knowing it was the right thing to do.
