So, my first opportunity to be vaccinated was on April 12, when I received the single dose Johnson & Johnson shot in a drive-through setting at our local county fairgrounds. I was grateful and glad to get it! And I was super impressed with the operation and efficiency, as I was one of several thousands getting a jab that day.
Of course, the very next morning the J&J shot was suspended, which was a little disconcerting, of course. But I was not overly concerned. That day I experienced a slight fever, some general malaise... but felt pretty fine by about dinner time. I was thrilled to be vaccinated. Some 14 million Americans like me got the J&J jab, and I am sure that most of them are as glad they got it as I am.
The reason for this diary is that when it comes to continuing information about issues like variants, boosters, etc., I feel like we J&Jers are like the red-headed stepchildren among the vaccinated. We are a small percentage of fully vaccinated Americans, and we are treated like it, especially as the media shares information that almost exclusively discusses Pfizer and Moderna issues.
I remain grateful for getting vaccinated. I remain confident that I am more than likely protected from serious disease or illness. But it would sure be nice if news about vaccine issues could at least acknowledge us J&Jers. We need way more information than we've been getting.
