Historic Civil Rights Icon to Headline Event for VA. Candidates Siker, Gooditis, and Herring

LEESBURG, VA  — On Sunday, September 12, 2021 in Leesburg, Dr. “Fergie” Reid will speak virtually at a live candidate event to support Attorney General Mark Herring, 10^th District Delegate Wendy Gooditis and 33^rd District Delegate Candidate Paul Siker for public office in the November election.

Dr. Reid, a champion of civil rights in Virginia for over 60 years, has been a mentor for generations of candidates in Virginia after becoming the first African American elected to the Virginia General Assembly since Reconstruction in 1967 and serving three terms.

In 2020, the Virginia General Assembly passed House Joint Resolution 334 commending Dr. Reid’s exceptional service to the Commonwealth and its people, stating, “ during his long standing tenure in Virginia politics, Fergie Reid has been a tower of strength and an inspiration for those who seek a stronger democracy, strive to uphold the principles of the Commonwealth, and demand justice for all.”

The Leesburg benefit — which will feature in-person speakers Mark Herring, Wendy Gooditis, Paul Siker and virtual special guest speaker Dr. Fergie Reid – is being held from 4 pm - 6 pm at the River Creek Clubhouse at 43800 Olympic Blvd.
