Getting ready to vote in the California Recall election. Obviously I’m voting no, but at the same time I want to hedge my bets, so I’m picking a Dem candidate from page two. There are nine of them I don’t know any of them by name, but that’s on me. I also figure others might be in the same boat so I’m putting this together as a guide that others can consult. For simplicity I am using the Voter’s Edge website summaries. Links are embedded. I am adding my personal opinion also. Feel free to add yours or yell at me in the comments as you prefer. I have not included anyone who didn’t bother to run as a Democrat.
After going through the list there are a bunch of seriously WTF?!?!? candidates on the list. I have moved the three that seem the best choices to the top but am not expressing an opinion on them. Would love to read what others think.
Jacqueline McGowan Cannabis Policy Advisor Has as many detailed plans for addressing the main questions as anyone else and strikes the right notes about racial justice and reform.
Joel Ventresca Retired Airport Analyst Was the enivronmental commissioner in SF from 1994-97 MS in public administration wants to build large amounts of public housing near transit centers and at least has a clue on how to start to work on drought related issues.
Brandon M. Ross Physician/Attorney Has some ideas about increasing public housing and dealing with the water shortage, but no detailed plans are available.
Holly L. Baade Mother/Business Owner Not much substance to her proposals and her experience seems to be lacking. She does have a MS in public administration but she is not in government. Main issues seem to be Universal Basic Income and housing. Other then that (and really including that) there just isn’t much substance. I won’t be voting for her.
John R. Drake College student. There’s absolutely no specific plans listed on his page. I won’t be voting for him.
Kevin Paffrath Financial Educator/Analyst There’s absolutely no specific plans listed on his page.. Main claim to fame seems to be that he bought a fixerupper house at age 19 and is now a wealthy real estate agent. I won’t be voting for him.
Armando "Mando" Perez-Serrato occupation not listed. Not sure why he’s running as a Democrat. His biography seems more suited for the GOP ticket. No specific plans other than he hates mask mandates and shutdown. I won’t be voting for him.
Daniel Watts Free Speech Lawyer This seems to be his only priority. He wants colleges that focus on free speech and every college that does so he says will be free. No specific plans just ranting I won’t be voting for him.
Patrick Kilpatrick Actor/Screenwriter/Producer Another GOP wannabe running on the Dem ticket main issues are reducing taxes and parental choice for schooling I won’t be voting for him.
If I missed anyone please add their name in comments I will edit them in later. Please remember, VOTE NO! If enough of us do that this won’t matter, but if we can get 50% of the people wo vote no to settle on one candidate Elder is toast.
