That man is an expert epidemiologist.
“Kaiser Family Foundation recently analyzed much of the state reported data and found that the rate of breakthrough cases reported was well below 1% in all reporting states “ (Coronavirus Briefing August 3 NY Times) . The NY Times also states,
“Experts say that infections in vaccinated people — so called breakthrough infections — are still relatively uncommon, and that even in those cases, the vaccines appear to protect against severe illness and death.”
This was reiterated by both Dr. Fauci and President Biden .
Again from The NY Times:
“The vaccines are doing exactly what they are supposed to do when it comes to keeping you out of the hospital, out of serious disease, and certainly, preventing your death,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top disease expert, told reporters.
“I know there’s a lot of misinformation out there, so here are the facts,” Mr. Biden said. “If you are vaccinated, you are highly unlikely to get Covid-19. and even if you do, the chances are you won’t show any symptoms. And if you do, they’ll most likely be very mild. Vaccinated people are almost never hospitalized.”
Why are we at this point ? The reason why are at this point is largely because republicans refused to get vaccinated. This followed months of prominent radical republican media and members of Congress and other radical conspiracy theorist anti-vaxxers pushing misinformation. Republicans seem to lack the empathy gene and the ability to learn from what happens to others. If it doesn’t happen to them, it is not real and should be rejected. Education and income are a better predictor of vaccine attitudes than race.
Over 60% of the adults in the country are now fully vaccinated and over 70% of the country is at least partially vaccinated. Vaccine protection increases over time initially. I found that after the first shot is administered, an appointment for the second shot is automatically generated. Those who have gotten the first shot, it would seem, should be willing to get the second shot. Otherwise, what’s the point ? Therefore, there is some hope that in a month , we should approach 70% of adults having been vaccinated. That protection should be realized in approximately two weeks after the second shot. A preventative for those whose immune system issues won’t allow them to be vaccinated is in the works as well as vaccines for those aged 12 to 18. On the other hand, thanks to republican dawdling, herd immunity may not be achieved. That’s largely because of the republicans who refused to get vaccinated. Their refusal kept the virus in circulation and allowed it to mutate. The Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine is expected to be fully approved by FDA by the beginning of next month.
