This is insane. Not unexpected, but lunatic nevertheless, for DeSantis (and other republican governors) to keep attacking masks and Biden, instead of the COVID-19 virus and its Delta variant, which is spreading like wildfire in red states with their low vaccination rates. He lashed out like a school-yard bully with these caustic juvenile words — “Why don’t you do your job, why don’t you get this border secure and until you do that, I don’t want to hear a blip about COVID from you.”
This is in response to Biden statements yesterday where he called out governors, who are making it illegal for business and schools to beat the pandemic through vaccinations and masks. Biden said at the White House on Tuesday afternoon — “We need leadership from everyone and if some governors aren’t willing to do the right thing to beat this pandemic, then they should allow businesses and universities who want to do the right thing to be able to do it. I say to these governors, please help. If you aren’t going to help, at least get out of the way of people who are trying to do the right thing. Use your power to save lives.”
DeSantis, “a most notable coward, an infinite and endless liar, an hourly promise breaker, the owner of no one good quality,” issued an Executive Order on Friday which threatens to withhold funding from districts that require masks for school children.
I will let Steve Schmidt’s words express the outrage and anger felt by the civilized world against the reprehensible republican party, who would rather let their own supporters die than do the right thing, because they don’t want Biden to look good. No doubt, the marching orders are coming from Mar-a-Lago, which gets its orders from one can guess where.
is a victory hug for the team of Victims. Nothing makes the MAGA heart beat faster than the sweet whispers of shared grievances, delusional victimization and righteous resentments that the Harvard educated @GovRonDeSantis is trying to tap into. They are celebrating a great triumph. A moment of exultation lit by great achievement.
This is their sport. It is all a game and @GovRonDeSantis made the shot! They think. Maybe the guy in the back is thinking about how to be the guy up front. Maybe they are nervous in the service of a @GovRonDeSantis and his performative abilities. Maybe it was a reaction to a modified prayer, the one Alan Shepard uttered atop a Redstone Rocket, “ please god, don’t let him F it up”. Who knows.
I wanted to give folks a window into how we observe and orient towards fighting the autocratic movement. We try and establish profiles at the @ProjectLincoln and use them to degrade and fight back against an autocratic movement that is in a present state of rapid malignant metamorphosis. This short video speaks thousands of words about @GovRonDeSantis, his predicament, and how he sees it. It shows the culture around him and the fact that they think they need to climb up, out of a hole. That is what is happening here. Under pressure, the sweetness of an imaginary win is seductive. @GovRonDeSantis has had his. Now it’s back to real life.
They have poisoned faith and belief in democracy and spread insanity about safe vaccines to the point where they have reignited the pandemic and killed thousands. Nepotism and hypocrisy may not be related but they seem to vacation together.
We wrote a diary on Monday — “To Mask or not to Mask, why is that a Question, DeSantis?”, where we pointed out how DeSantis has been holding secret meetings with folks who are anti-mask and anti-vaccine to lay out his COVID policy and talking points.
According to miami.cbslocal.com/…, all of the participants argued against masks.
“I don’t think the delta variant changes the calculus or the evidence in any fundamental way, governor,” Bhattacharya said when asked by DeSantis if the highly transmissible variant should change the state’s approach to masks in schools.
Cody Meissner, chief of Tufts University’s Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease, also participated in the event and argued that wearing a mask is “not a very effective way of preventing disease.”
Los Angeles-based clinical psychiatrist Mark McDonald argued during the event that “masking children is child abuse.”
Mark McDonald later tweeted that “Immunity is best achieved naturally, not through a failed, unsafe, experimental vaccine.”
Perhaps, this is a race to the bottom for DeSantis, so that he can run for president or maybe the VP under trump. Also, this blaming of immigrants crossing the border is a constant scare tactic that has been running in republican circles since 2015 when trump entered the race.
This is the state of the State of Florida. The other red states are in the same boat.
This is what Anna Fusco, the president of the Broward County, Florida teachers' union, thinks of DeSantis — Deplorable.
Democrats are stepping up to expose the new big lie being propagated by republicans -
This seems to be the republican playbook for the next election cycle —
- Let COVID spread, but blame the deaths on Biden and immigrants
- When COVID infection rates subside, claim victory
- Keep the Big Lie alive; do more audits and claim more illegal Democratic votes
- Keep changing state laws in red states to suppress Democratic votes
- Block the Biden agenda in Congress
- Keep fleecing their flock for donations
- Hope that between the relentless propaganda from non-stop right-wing media outlets, and voter disenfranchisement/suppression at state levels, they will win the next election cycle in 2022 and re-elect trump in 2024 and attain a permanent republican majority along the lines of Russia and Hungary.
Let’s do all we can to spread the truth, ask our friends and family in Florida and other red states to take precautions, expose the destructive mindset of the modern GOP and make sure we triumph over the dark anti-American forces in our midst.
