In WAYR?, I note what I’m reading and comment...you note what you are reading and comment. Occasionally, I may add a section or a link related to books…I am stagnated on the somewhat lengthy reads...reading short works (100 pages or less) helps.
I have finished reading:
The Black Hermit by Ngũgĩ wa Thiongʼo- This was Thiong’o’s very first play. I picked this play because of the title. The play is about all the themes that you’d think an African (to be more precise, Kenyan) play of the early 1960’s would be about: tradition, colonialism, revolution. A good...not great work that probably performs better than it reads.
REMI
Seclusion from what was formerly around you is solitude. To be a hermit means escaping from what’s around you. My tribe was around me.
I am reading:
Kitchen Confidential : Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly by Anthony Bourdain
The Labyrinth of the Spirits by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
How Long ‘Til Black Future Month by N.K. Jemisin
