PCarey is busy this morning with chores on the Gulf Coast. I am stepping in for him for a few Fridays until his return. Let us start with a lovely tune to connect us all. Godspeed brother Carey.
My wife woke Tuesday morning to violent shaking from internal chills. The thermometer read “low grade fever” 100.2. She was parched and absorbed a bottle of water with an added Emergen-C (vitamin, mineral, powder packet). She was dressed in her winter flannels (not a good sign for the last day of August). “I don’t feel good”, she feebly uttered.
I suggested she call her sister-in-law to drive her to get a Covid test. The two women waited together until the results returned from the (where ever they send those swabs). She called me to tell me she tested positive for the virus. “I’ll be home when you get off work,” she sobbed.
When I got home she was bundled in the bed. She had an arsenal of items on the night stand to survive the day. My brilliant wife was taking control of her health. I ran every errand she asked of me. We prepared for Wednesday, Thursday, everyday of our future.
She was scheduled to get an infusion the next day. That appointment was mismanaged by some ditz that can’t get off her personal phone long enough to make a life or death… someone.
My wonderful wife was on the phone getting things done (while I was at work) yesterday. She has her appointment at 7:15 this morning. I will have to drive her so I will miss much of the MOT. However, I shall return.
I”ll let you all know what the results of the infusion are like for her. My wife is now a “Break through” case. She will be fine and with some benefits. Life is full of surprises. What are yours?
