I saw this from Crooks and Liars:
“I did not get vaccinated. I’m not anti-vax; I was just trying to do my research. I was scared," said Alexandra Blankenbiller in her last video. Nine days later she died.
Sept. 7, 2021 -- TikTok creator and artist Alexandra Blankenbiller posted her last video on Aug. 15 from her hospital bed. Voice raspy, breathing with the help of a machine, she pleaded with her followers to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
“I don’t have a lot of energy for talking, so I’m going to try to make this quick,” said Blankenbiller, who lived in the Jacksonville, FL, area. “I did not get vaccinated. I’m not anti-vax; I was just trying to do my research. I was scared.”
“I do think it was a mistake,” she continued. “I shouldn’t have waited. If you are even 70% sure you want the vaccine, go get it. Don’t wait. Go get it. Because hopefully if you get it, then you won’t end up in the hospital like me.”
Nine days later, she died. She was 31.
Emphasis is mine.
You can see all her videos at the link.
Cmae told me the refrain from her Qanon believing sister when challenged is “Do your own research!” or some such shit. Do your own research. This is what Blankenbiller said as well. It is the standard line from those on the right or the anti-vaxxer crowd.
Do their own research is share disinformation on a social media platform.
And is Blankenbiller a medical doctor? A virologist? Has she ever talked to anyone who worked in the vaccine industry? Obviously not, or she wouldn’t be dead.
“I cannot trust the government or academia. But I will trust the ignoramous on a social media platform!”
Will those videos she made make it to those same insular sites of disinformation? I doubt it.
NOTE: I put the creator in quotes because she is not a FOUNDER of Tiktok. She’s an artist who used TikTok. If you do a Google search, it comes up as “creator.” And yes, it implies she actually founded TikTok when she didn’t.
