First it was movie Studios trying to train us consumers (specifically movie goers) to watch movies in Monoscopic 2D. Then Warner Bros. and Paramount became the last 2 studios still trying to do that. Luckily all of them have learn their lesson after 2021; that Crony-Capitalism is dead in theaters and dying in the rest of the world (I'm assuming Paramount is also onboard with accepting us movie goers as is).
But since October, the movie theaters/cinemas/theatres (theatres serve alcohol 🍸) have been trying their hand @ Crony-Capitalism since October 2K21. Luckily the movie Studios have been adopting by releasing only 1 movie in 3D; 7 days apart from their competitors 3D movies as you can see from the release schedule 📅 of April 1st, 2022 onward:
Morbius (April 1st)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (April 8th)
Fantastic Beasts 3 (April 15th)
The Bad Guys (April 22nd)
65 (April 29th)
Doctor Strange 2 (May 6th)
....etc.
So the question becomes when will movie theaters/etc. stop shortchanging us. How many times are we gonna start off with 1 to 2 3D showtimes in week 1 to explode into multiple 3D Screenings in weeks 2 & 3 with a significant reduction of 2D Screenings from the millions they start off with in week 1.
We've seen this play out throughout 2021, Godzilla VS. Kong starts off with 2 showtimes a day in 3D from Wednesday (March 31st) to Thursday [April 8th (9 days)] just to have more 3D Screenings weeks 2 and 3. And this has repeat over & over again, including with Spider-Man No Way Home still having 3D Screenings its 4th week, but not that many 2D Screenings.
A lack of 3D projectors is a straw-man argument, because every single room in every single cinema location of these theaters has a 3D projector, if not Laser 3D projector: i.e. AMC/Pacific/ArcLight (over 700 Locations in U.S.), Cinemark/Regal (over 700 Locations in U.S.) and El Capitan Theater.
Sure Landmark only has 1 room with a 3D Projector per Location, but no one goes to Landmark, especially not young people who now make up the overwhelming majority of theater-goers, and thank goodness since Generation X was a blight on Cinema; with movies not requiring any standard in the quality of their script a few years ago & beyond. And the only reason movies like Tomb Raider 2 and Fantastic Beasts 3 and Sherlock Holmes 3 (all in 3D) had soo much work done on their script is because most of us Millennials and Gen Z'ers wouldn't support the previous installments, because of our higher standards developed via Japanese Storytelling from Anime (i.e. Full Metal Alchemists, Bleach, Yugioh, Dragonball Z etc.) to Video Games (i.e. Xenoblade Chronicles, Final Fantasy 4 thru 10 etc.).
Anyways, Movie Theaters can't keep Crony-Capitalism going forever, with their insidious ways of trying to train us audience's to watch movies in Monoscopic 2D, sooner or later they gonna have to bend to are will on movie screenings. Its not like IMAX makes movies any money as shown:
Mortal Kombat reboot
Snake Eyes
The Suicide Squad 2
Ghostbusters Afterlife
Matrix Resurrections
The King's Man
All these movies released in Monoscopic 2D only, with IMAX Screenings and made no money. Meanwhile the movies released in 3D made bank as shown:
Godzilla VS. Kong
Black Widow
Free Guy
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Venom Let There Be Carnage
No Time To Die
Dune
Eternals
Spider-Man No Way Home
Not to mention, IMAX has been losing its costumers to 4DX Screenings; from the U.S. to the U.K. to China. Not only has IMAX 2D Lost costumers to 4DX in 3D, but in China; IMAX 3D has been losing costumers to 4D (3D) Screenings too.
I'm glad movie studios care more about making money 💰 then Crony-Capitalism, but when will movie theaters do the same?
The irony that movie theaters are stopping studios from making money is crazy-ironic, but it is literally happening right now as we speak, since October 2021.
The least Movie Theaters can do is at least start off their first week with 20% 3D Screenings and 80% 2D Screenings, instead of the current 5% 3D Screenings, 95% 2D Screenings bullcrap.
I mean, we've seen Godzilla VS. Kong make 90+% of its Global Box Office from 3D screenings ($450+ million) and Spider-Man No Way Home make 80+% of its Global Box Office from 3D Screenings ($1.2+ billion).
If you look at all American movies released in 2K21 and compare 3D vs. 2D's performances and include 2D from 2D only movies, well 3D still made about 60% of the Box Office revenues for 2021 in American movies Global Box Office success. Keep in mind that a million more movies released in 2D Only, compare to the few movies that released in 3D and 2D.
Time after time we have some over age 50 Cis-White Male trying to push IMAX on us by pushing IMAX aspect ratio onto Directors and their movies. And it would be great if the Studios can stop excluding America from 3D Screenings of 3D Movies; i.e. Murder on the Orient (2016) and Sonic the Hedgehog and Fast & Furious and Hobbs & Shaw and Kingsman, for such upcoming movies as Death on the Nile and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Fast & Furious 10 and Hobbs & Shaw 2 and Kingsman 3 Blue Blood, especially since we consumers have spoken, we don't care about IMAX (1977) nor Flat Monoscopic 2D. What we like is RealD 3D (2005) and 4DX (2008 or 2009). So will AMC and ArcLight Cinemas (AMC) and Pacific Theaters (AMC) and Cinemark and Regal (Cinemark) and El Capitan Theaters (Disney) listen to us and stop shortchanging us and give us more 3D and 4DX (3D) showtimes. They already use UV (Ultra-Violet) technology to clean the 3D Glasses for crying out loud. And if AMC and Cinemark and Regal could upgrade their RealD XL Projectors to RealD Cinema Projectors and RealD Luxe Projectors (especially in time for Avatar 2 this December 16th, so they can add 4DX Cinema rooms first 😎), then that would be great.

FYI The Batman (March 4th) will be the 1st Batman movie ever to be in 3D.
