One year ago violent rioters tried to overturn the 2020 election results. Make no mistake, this insurrection was clearly based on a lie that the former president of the United States and his supporters continue to push. These twisted narratives are harmful and undermine our rule of law and democracy.
The Capitol attack is a terrible chapter in our history. Too many Republicans think it was an ordinary day. We do not. We will defend democracy in Arizona and throughout our country. Understand that these January 6th rioters were armed, there was no election fraud, Capitol police were harmed, and people died. Yet, Republicans continue to deflect blame and the leaders who fanned the flames need to be held accountable. We must also pass voting rights protection to uphold our country’s basic foundation and strengthen democratic efforts.
The Navajo County Democrats remain committed to stopping Trumpian extremist candidates in Arizona and restore leadership who will govern in good faith. This year, we will work to get out the vote to keep the U.S. Senate, by reelecting Mark Kelly, retain the U.S. House with Representative Tom O'Halleran, and elect Democrats down ballot in critical state and local races to protect our democracy. We will do this by continuing to hire local community organizers in rural and tribal communities in northeast Arizona to increase voter turn in this midterm election.
We have a 2022 game plan that builds upon our successes from 2020 and our incredibly productive 2021 year round community engagement strategy. This winning combination is how we will change the political landscape in Arizona. We work one voter at a time, empowering citizens to elect leaders who respect Democracy.
We cannot do this without your help. Please contribute what you can to help us stand up and fight back against extremism in Arizona. We will not back down, especially when so much is at stake.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support.
Sincerely,
Missa Foy, Chair, Navajo County Democrats
Jaynie Parrish, Executive Director, Navajo County Democrats
