James Earl Carter. Better known to the world as Jimmy. The 39th president of the United States of America and global humanitarian. Today this man celebrates his 98th birthday.
President Carter was something of a rarity in office in that he was among the very few presidents who was willing to tell the country what it decidedly did NOT want to hear.
He has also been the only former POTUS to use his notoriety to use his life outside the White House to serve humanity. In addition he is far and away the most published former president ever, with more than thirty books including one novel (a first for a former president) and a children’s book.
It is difficult to think of a president, certainly since the end of World War II, who drew a worse hand than President Carter, yet in so many ways he has been proven right. Just on energy alone it is staggering how on target he was.
So, let us wish our 3pth president to joys of a great birthday and celebration, and I will close this diary with a few photos of him, often with his lovely wife and life partner, our former FLOTUS,
Rosalyn at his side, doing the types of things that long
put other former US presidents to shame.
Rock on, Mr. President, thank you for your service, and have a well deserved happy bi
rthday!
