Tim Ryan is running a remarkably effective campaign in Ohio and needs the help of Daily Kos. AND, IMO, he’s offering a good part of the right message for this year and for years to come for Democrats: Let’s take care of all workers, rural and urban, and of all races, political perspectives, creeds, avocations and persuasions--and make sure that labor is considered first and that the heartland does not rot while the cities grow stronger.
Here is a summary of Ryan’s position from a recent Pro Publica article:
“We have to love each other, we have to care about each other, we have to see the best in each other, we have to forgive each other,” he declared when he won the Democratic Senate primary in May.
He isn’t just preaching kindness and forgiveness. For years, he has warned his fellow Democrats that their embrace of free trade and globalization would cost them districts like the one he represents in the Mahoning River Valley — and lobbied them to prioritize domestic manufacturing, which, he argued, could repair some of the damage.”
….
….”Ryan is running close enough in the [Ohio] polls that a political action committee aligned with Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate leader, has had to commit $28 million to keep the seat (now held by Rob Portman, who is retiring), and [Republican J.D.] Vance has had to ratchet up his rhetorical attacks....”
After years of being overlooked, Tim Ryan is pointing his party toward a path to recovery in the Midwest. On the campaign trail, he has embraced a unifying tone that stands out from the crassness and divisiveness that Trump and his imitators have wrought. A significant number of what he calls the “exhausted majority” of voters have responded gratefully.” Source Pro Publica and republished in Raw Story.
Time to throw a great candidate (and a meditator and general good guy) a few bucks!
