Assuming the Nevada Senate race is decided tonight (with no recount), the tabulation of the Arizona governor's race will be the last major race to watch. From afar, I've watched Katie Hobbs run a race against a charismatic and photogenic nutjob. Hobbs received a lot of criticism for being low key and not engaging Kari Lake in a debate. Polls were alarming and the betting markets favored Lake substantially. As with many races, the Republican strength was overrated.
Mark Kelly has won in Arizona and Hobbs has held the lead since Election Day. Will Hobbs hold on? Hobbs had won my admiration for her conduct during the 2020 election as Secretary of State. Under adverse (even threatening) conditions, she supervised the tabulation of votes and produced a fair result that has stood up to MAGA scrutiny. Lake would be a disaster as governor. Seeing her defeated would put a cherry on top of the 2022 election.
