I’ve been making calls each day for the Warnock campaign through NetGenAmerica.org, a voter outreach program to turn out young voters — as I have written here, ad voluminis, including We Can Unleash the Sleeping Giant Waiting to Save Democracy in the United States.
This diary is my effort at Force Multiplying. I figure if even one of you does it based on this, it’s worth it.
NextGen offers various ways to boost turnout in the Georgia Runoff, including the phone banking I did, text-banking and social media involvement. Some are not comfortable with phone banking, so text banking and social activism (such as “link dropping”) are viable other options.
Here is the link for all campaign outreach through: NextGen Georgia Outreach. They are also listed in the dailykos.com/gotv along with several other GOTV opportunities.
A few observations:
1. Technology makes it very easy. You can use either your phone or computer, and an app “Get Thru” does the dialing for you. The script is very simple and you can do a lot of calls in 15-20 minutes.
2. There are follow-up text features for sending links to find out early and election day polling places.
3. I recommend doing it in small doses of 15-20 minutes, but your mileage may vary based on individual patience and tolerance. Even if you only do it a few times, you’ll feel ownership of the victory if we win or that at least you’ve done what you could in the alternative.
4. I seem to have reached more people than in past years’ phone banking.
5. Most people, even those saying they’re voting against Warnock, are polite.
May the Force Multiplier be With You!
