On Wednesday, disgraced former guy Donald Trump announced that he would be making a “MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT” on Thursday. As with anything being screamed at you by a narcissist in all caps, it was equal parts anxiety-producing, annoying, funny, and pathetic.
On Thursday Donald Trump announced … he’s peddling NFTs. In the form of trading cards depicting Trump as superhero. Excuse me, you ask? Trading cards. Like baseball cards or Pokémon cards. So … they come with a stick of stale bubble gum, you ask? No. They’re digital. So they’re like … on your computer. But you own them. And they cost $99.00 each. What? It’s less than $100! Winning! It was a boondoggle, even for a man who has relentlessly hoodwinked his desperate base.
Even Trump’s diehard base responded poorly to this newest letdown of a policy plan. A few hours later, everyone still trying to grift money off of the Trump garbage train began working real hard to do cleanup. Right-wing yes-man Jack Posobiec breathlessly ran to his Twitter account to say he had “obtained a copy of President Trump unveiling the major planks of his official Free Speech Policy Proposal.” Damage control much? Shortly after that, folks like climate denier and felon Dinesh D’Souza—who began the day by looking up from a kneeling position under Trump’s shoe to retweet the trading card announcement—quickly pretended that there was a different big announcement. I’m sorry, I mean “MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT.”
The responses were exemplary.

This is how it played out. Yes. Those are real.
And then a real announcement.
And then, after even conservatives remarked how weak a move this was for a guy who boasts of having a golden toilet, Dinesh D’Souza got out his mop and bucket—made out of dead dreams and anger—and wrote:
Strange. Here’s Dinesh a short while earlier.
Trump Junior had the same idea—posting the same “free speech” blather in the hopes of papering over the superhero trading cards announcement. But it’s hard to fight with this video.
And here’s the general feeling. If you know what the reference is, you know.
Here’s a digital trading card.
And another one.
Here are some other major announcements today:
A Christmas classic announcement.
Ta-da!
And the requisite Simpsons meme.
