If you’re not on the same Twitter-to-email feeds as me, you might not have seen the news yet that Peter Beinart has finally received the well-deserved recognition that all righteous American Jews crave.
Following Peter’s gracious acceptance speech, Rabbi Dr. Robert Reuel Naiman [“I have a MASTERS degree!”] released the following statement:
“On behalf of the zillions of intermittently-dues-paying, formerly-card-carrying [“it’s gotta be around here somewhere!”] members of the Siblinghood of Overeducated American Jews Who Hate Israel [“officials!”], with dormant chapters in virtually every major American town that has a secular college campus or a public library, I congratulate Peter on receiving this well-deserved recognition, and on his gracious acceptance speech. Following Peter’s gracious example, I will pass over the fact that the many contributions to the movement for justice in Israel-Palestine of toiling SOAJWHI members across the United States, in the decades since our founding in 1984 following the U.S.-backed Israeli invasion and occupation of Lebanon in 1982, have once again been callously overlooked, without any acknowledgement or recognition whatsoever. RIGGED! What are we, chopped liver? What do we have to do to get any credit or recognition around here? Oh well. Whaddya gonna do? Dos leben is a spas.”

If you’d like to intermittently pay your multiple of $18 SOAJWHI dues by December 31, here are a few suggestions:

Jewish Voice for Peace [Our cousins in the San Francisco area. We were hippies once too.]
