Late Wednesday afternoon, two men were having a heated dispute over their placement in line at a busy McDonald’s in west Houston. That’s when one of them pulled the trigger on the other; authorities later arrived to find the shooting victim dead inside the restaurant. The gunman fled eastward of the McDonald’s on foot. No word yet on their identities.
Houston is no stranger when it comes to gun murders in restaurants. A transgender woman was murdered outside a Chick-fil-A. A murder-suicide at a famed family-friendly place. A New Orleans Police Department officer killed whilst dining al fresco in a wealthy area. A shooting over a soccer game inside a sports bar. A father shot to death whilst bringing a birthday cake to his daughter at a Chuck E Cheese’s. A Cracker Barrel manager shot dead inside the restaurant. A cold-blooded murder of a father outside a Whataburger. All have occurred within the past 10 months.
Could this all be a damning indictment of loose gun laws in America?
A previous version of the story has stated that authorities arrived two hours after the shooting. There have been discrepancies between news articles over the time it exactly occurred.
