The verdict at the car dealership was that Tuesday (see below) happened because it was so blasted cold here that day (also, see below). My daughter should buy something that will let her recharge the battery at home once a year and it should work just fine till it dies of old age.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Indian citizenship troubles. The country. The government has been trying to declare some citizens to be citizens of Bangladesh, and a fair number of them don’t have much money.
Melting glaciers have exposed an ancient trail and the remains from apparently generations worth of reindeer hunting in the mountains of Norway.
The NAACP is presenting a civil rights award to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for three different things they’ve been working on for the past few years.
It was a chamberpot, not a general storage jar.
Loud cheers and great rejoicing! A new trial has been ordered for the woman in Memphis who was sentenced to six years in prison for trying to register to vote.

Monday was a holiday. I goofed off.
Tuesday, the plan was to get my granddaughter to a dental appointment (two fillings), and my daughter take the MAX to work from the stop by the dentist office and I take the grandson to school and the granddaughter and self home. That didn’t work. The car wouldn’t start and I didn’t have my AAA card with me, so we had to call my daughter back. My grandson was late to school, and I had to take the car to the nearest Les Schwab for a battery charge. Which the battery apparently didn’t need. There’s something else wonky with the electrical system in the car, apparently.
For the rest of the week, the car worked just fine. Though I made sure to turn all the things that call on the electrical system before turning off the car.
We had a couple days of clear and horribly cold, which are not unknown around here in February — sometimes we have a week like that. That was Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday, in the course of my morning routine, I looked out back from my kitchen and found out that it had snowed overnight. Not very much, and it didn’t last more than a couple of hours; but I had to drive carefully to deal with getting my grandson to school. That meant I didn’t go my usual route, which involves pulling onto Powell at the foot of the Ross Island Bridge.
My daughter had my phone overnight Wednesday to deal with getting the upgrade into it. I now know who it is who has the local wifi network ‘so long and thanks for all the fish’. I thought it was likely, but I’d never asked.
One-half of my favorite author team is Russian with some Ukrainian ancestry. She has friends and relatives on both sides of the border and is worried and unhappy. She does not want her ignorance enlightened — she is rather less ignorant of the situation than those people inclined to do that sort of thing — she wants the people who live there to be safe.
The order I had in for CenturyLink fiber optics has been canceled. They don’t have fiber optics in my neighborhood, and it’s uncertain when they will be putting them in. To make up for my inconvenience, and to assuage their embarrassment, my internet access has been slightly reworked in a relatively minor upgrade and my CenturyLink bill is going to be substantially less for the forseeable future.
