Asheville Citizen-Times:
On Feb. 28 Cawthorn filed a statement of organization with the Federal Election Commission saying he would now run in the 11th District covering the west of the state. It includes Buncombe County and his home county of Henderson.
Though his finances aren’t great:
Cawthorn raised $2.6 million in 2021, FEC filings say. He spent most of it, leaving him with $282,000 as of Jan. 31.
His primary opponent (one of several) is state Senator Chuck Edwards who has $329K cash on hand. It will be interesting to see the two of them go at it, especially as NC-11 isn’t as red as it used to be because of the court-drawn maps.
