On 6 January, Kenyon was wearing a red Make America Great Again hat and a Jack Skellington costume, based on a character from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas, the complaint said.
He tried to break a Capitol window with a flag staff and assaulted officers with several objects including the table leg. Images show Kenyon strike numerous officers with the table leg, including one riot-gear clad officer in the head, the complaint said.
“The protruding nail appears to become momentarily stuck between the top of the officer’s face shield and helmet,” FBI special agent Matthew Lariccia said in a statement filed with the complaint.
FBI agents interviewed three witnesses in the Washington area who believed Kenyon was the person in the photos, Larricia said. Two others, including a relative, positively identified a photo in April, and in September the Washington Metro transit authority confirmed fare and bank records consistent with his presence at the uprising.

A Nevada man accused of crimes related to the breach of the U.S. Capitol was arrested last week after his family was found living in an unheated travel trailer on the outskirts of Reno, the Justice Department said.
(snip)
The family — in a battered and hand-painted Ford Crown Victoria pulling the trailer — was stopped on North Virginia Street as they drove away from Peavine Mountain. The car had strapped to its roof what appeared to be a large gas tank, also painted in green camouflage.

The arrest warrant issued Nov. 23 for Kenyon detailed how federal investigators identified him by determining the debit account associated with a fare card that was used during the times “Jack Skellington” — also tagged as #pinstripeboilersuit — was seen on surveillance images in Washington, D.C., Metro stations.
Nothing says “real American” quite like a hand painted camouflage vehicle...

A traffic stop was set up and Kenyon was arrested on the federal charges, along with his wife, Elizabeth, for child endangerment. Deputies reportedly found an AR-15 rifle, a Glock handgun, ammunition and other weaponry inside the camouflaged car.
The children were safe, but while being supervised spoke in the same sovereign citizen, anti-government rhetoric as their parents.
It’s unclear how long they’d been living off the grid, on the run.
I’m guessing that would be since sometime early last year based on available information.

Josiah Kenyon is charged with nine counts, including assaulting certain officers, civil disorder, destruction of government property and disorderly conduct in a capitol building. He entered his not guilty plea on Tuesday.
Prosecutors say Kenyon was in the Capitol during the insurrection. He allegedly helped damage an exterior window of the building, first trying to break it with a closed [???] before and then trying with the staff of a flag.
He later used several items, including what appeared to be a table leg with a nail, to assault law enforcement officers protecting the building, according to the allegations.
Nails have to be one of the absolute worst ways to attach legs to a table besides rubber bands and spit... This might have never happened if someone had used a lag bolt.

A suspect in the January 6 Capitol riot accused of assaulting several officers in the attack asked a federal judge for permission to defend himself against prison guards at a status hearing for his case.
(snip)
Before his comment, Nichols warned Kenyon to consult with his attorney before speaking. "I have a high enough IQ range to not screw up there, boss," Kenyon shot back to the judge.
Nichols said he would not be "making any finding one way or another" about his right to defend himself while incarcerated. At the end of the meeting, Nichols asked if Kenyon had any other issues to raise.
"My wife and children [are] homeless on the street. Have a wonderful day," he replied.
Dude, your family is homeless because you took them on the run with you… That is entirely your fault.
