Welcome to what is the 1083rd original profile here at “Fanatical Republican Extremist of the Day”, where we’ll be discussing Jason Mariner, who was the Republican nominee in the special election for U.S. House of Representatives for Florida’s 20th Congressional District in January of 2022. He made the campaign promise to stop “socialism, or even worse, communism”, so perhaps you know this profile is about to get rapidly out of touch with reality.
Prior to his run for office, Mariner had previously been convicted of felony theft, cocaine possession, and obstructing justice. While campaigning, he was questioning the legitimacy of the 2020 election, and praised the seditious mother***ers who attacked the Capitol on January 6th. Oh, and at least once Mariner had a Confederate flag tattoo on his right arm (exactly the qualification you’d want while running in a district that is only 21% white), and at one point, was accused by his ex-wife of threatening to kidnap and assault her. Did we mention he admitted he never has even lived in FL-20, where he was running for office? Or that he told his prospective constituents that parts of the district “looked like a third world country”?
Mariner lost in the special election, getting just 19% of the vote. We hope this is the only time we ever have to mention him.
