As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

If you are a near life long fan like me, then you know that Star Trek has had a whole passel of Spin off series, including two separate animated series at the time of this writing. But what you may not know, is that there was almost a spin off. In 1966, The Great Bird of the Galaxy, aka, Gene Rodenberry, began work on a new series which at the time, was to have -nothing- to do with Star Trek. It was to feature the adventures of Gary Seven, and his sidekick, Roberta, not to mention of course, the real star, Isis, the cat. When his pilot for the show was rejected by the networks, Gene decided that he wasn’t done. He reworked the script, and turned it into the Finale, to season two of Star Trek. The great man planned to use the episode as a back door pilot, thus giving his rejected series a second shot, much as Star Trek itself was given. Unfortunately, the series was never made, But that doesn’t mean the end of Gary Seven’s adventures. In fact, there was a five issue limited series of Comics, published by IDW~
I remember seeing this episode when I was a kid, and even then, I wanted to see more done with these characters. Maybe I will be able to find copies of the comics and see how Gary and Roberta’s adventures turn out!
