This diary is for DK members in the Los Angeles area, and probably not of great interest to anybody else.
Early on, a founder of the LA Kossacks group declared an intention to have a monthly in-person meeting. That may have been over-ambitious and I haven’t seen any notice of any in-person events for years, but I’d like to see if there is interest in meeting at least bimonthly. I have a space that is close to the Harbor Freeway, has nearby public parking lots, and will fit about fifty people. I’d like to see how many folks would be interested in having a midweek meeting in the evening. This could be a freeform discussion of local and California politics, a history talk that would give background on current events, or something else, depending on what people prefer. (Not a potluck because we don’t have a kitchen.) Please feel free to comment below with what day would work best for you and what kind of program you might want to see or present.
And speaking of programs, Keith “Keef” Knight will be presenting a talk called “Saving The World, One Cartoon At A Time” this Friday, April 1 at 7:30 PM. The venue is Collage: A Place for Art and Culture” in San Pedro, which is in fact the space being offered for the meeting. The event will may be attended live for $20 or via livestream for $12, and a description of his program and more details are at this Eventbrite link. (I checked with an admin at the LAK group and was told it’s OK to promote this event as Keith is a regular front-pager.)
If anyone has questions about the meeting idea or Keith’s event, please feel to send a Kosmail. Hoping to meet some of you at Friday’s program or at a meetup,
PNE
