Stephen Miller, the driver of many of the worst Trump administration policies (including taking children and babies from their parents at the border between the U.S. and Mexico), is now suing the Jan. 6 committee to try to stop them from obtaining his cell phone records.
While it isn’t surprising Miller is doing anything and everything to block the committee’s subpoena of his phone records, the basis for his lawsuit is more absurd than expected:
In the complaint, the 36-year-old former Trump adviser claims the subpoena is overly broad because it would also capture the records of his parents and other family members. California real estate company Carron Drive Apartments LP, which owns the family plan, is listed as a co-plaintiff alongside Miller. The complaint says “several of the Family Account Plan members are practicing attorneys who use their phones for privileged call and text communications with clients and to otherwise conduct their law practices.”
The Jan. 6 committee is seeking Miller’s phone records from Nov. 1, 2020 through Jan. 31, 2021. In the complaint, Miller is also seeking to block the phone records because his daughter was born on Nov. 19, 2020 and he claims there are sensitive medical discussions.
The Jan. 6 committee is particularly interested in Miller’s phone records because he was instrumental in the fake ‘alternative’ electors plan, even appearing on Fox News to promote the idea.
I’m just gonna spitball here, but maybe you don’t use your parent-issued cell phone if you are even thinking about taking part in a criminal conspiracy?
