This headline focuses on the sheer number of bullets flung at a crowd.
It seems that another mass shooting happened and the press is seemingly amazed at the number of shots fired. “Over 60…” and I sit here and wonder what rock in which gated community they live under. Extended mags for handguns let “gun enthusiasts” like the perpetrator(s) here utilize their 2nd Amendment Rights 15 rounds at a time. 4 or 5 guns with these mags easily let’s you spew 60+ bullets in the general direction of your target in just a few seconds, then you can drive off and feel all manly, macho, and stuff.
The fact that 6 people were killed and another 12 injured, plus all the random bullet holes in buildings and cars is also mentioned but is just another day in America.
The old standby “hail of bullets” allows reportage to spend more attention on the victims rather than the ordinance used. It’s almost like a critique of the volume of fire rather than its impacts. That’s my first impression anyway.
Well, like Marshal McCluen purportedly wrote, ”The media will never reach ‘excellent’ because they will always just be the ‘medium’.”
