This is going to be a very short post but it’s in response to some of the usual Democrat bashing that’s starting to get cranked up around here again, just in time for the midterms. I’m a little bit of a hothead as most people can attest but after reading and commenting on a couple of posts earlier in the day that were replete with the usual “Dems suck, just microscopically less than Republicans” coupled with the inevitable, “People around here who disagree with you are going to irrationally attack you for speaking this profound truth”, comments, I wanted to respond. It’s a weeknight and 4:00am comes early so I couldn’t respond in a manner that I would wish or that some of my many detractors would read but then I ran across Beau’s video for today.
“Beau of the Fifth Column” is a youtube influencer who is a journalist and who’s real name is Justin King. He is very learned and is an able political commentator and I’ve come to value the clarity of his explanations. In this case I’m just going to post his latest and ask you to watch it with an open mind.
I think he reads Daily Kos.
Guys, this isn’t the time to go all “I demand purity” and “Dems need to work on their ideology” or even “Democrats aren’t above criticism”. No, they are absolutely NOT ABOVE CRITICISM AND NOBODY IS SAYING THAT THEY ARE! I’m arguing that flawed or perfect, we need more Democrats. A few more votes for Hillary Clinton, 5 digits worth in a few states and our SCOTUS would be very liberal for the foreseeable future.
This. Is. Not. The. Time!
We have to win and if that means biting our tongues until after the election about all of the warts and imperfections Democrats sport, I think our very literal FREEDOM is worth it!
Update: Thanks for the great response. Please understand that this isn’t about starting a pie fight and I know that not everyone agrees with what I have to say but I think it is long past time for us to wise up and start throwing all of our missiles at the people who want to enslave us, rather than those in our camp who aren’t as passionate about our beliefs as we would like. Plenty of time to criticize later because if we don’t win the next several elections resoundingly, will we may not even be allowed to criticize in the future.
