Meghan McCain’s redundantly titled Bad Republican has been out for roughly 10 days now, and so far it’s selling like the vegan bratwurst/O’Doul’s Light combo meal at Lambeau Field.
What’s the old saying? No one ever went broke underestimating the public’s lack of interest in Meghan McCain? Personally, I’d rather play maracas for the house cover band on a Russian Black Sea frigate than spend more than 10 minutes watching The View, but I have seen clips of it, and so I can only imagine McCain’s political takes remain about as culturally relevant as her late father’s short-lived circa 2000 James Van Der Beek/Dawson’s Creek tribute page. (It’s always possible the admin was a different John McCain, but seriously, who’s gonna fact-check this?)
And, apparently, I’m not the only one who’s underwhelmed by this regal bucket of hair’s purpling prose.
Mediate:
Meghan McCain’s new book has flopped with fewer than 300 copies sold since its release, according to a report.
[...]
According to the Washington Examiner, the book had only sold 244 copies as of Friday.
The book is available at Random House, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, Walmart, and other major retailers.
It’s available at Barnes & Noble, Target, and Walmart and has only sold 244 copies? Wow. That’s kind of hard to do. Maybe she should have given exclusive distribution rights to the guy who sells bootleg VHS copies of Red Sonja out of the back of his fuck van. Then again, when you really think about it, 244 copies actually seems a bit high for such a baroque torture implement. I checked it out on Amazon and got a prompt saying this item is frequently purchased together with black market Kazakhstani scrotum wax.
Guess this is what happens to conservative books when the Republican National Committee isn’t buying up 98% of the initial print run.
Enjoy the rest of your Schaden-Friday, folks. Cheers!
It made comedian Sarah Silverman say, “THIS IS FUCKING BRILLIANT,” and prompted author Stephen King to shout “Pulitzer Prize!!!” (on Twitter, that is). What is it?
