Thursday night saw the opening public hearing salvo from the Jan. 6 committee. The congressional investigation committee laid out the basics of what Americans would see over the next few weeks. In the hours and days leading up to the very sober reminder of how Donald Trump, along with the MAGA wing of the Republican Party, attempted to overthrow our government’s democracy in order to retain power, GOP operatives, legislators, and the like spent their time continuing to promote misinformation to their followers. The playbook is simple: push misleading information and conspiracy theories, talk about anything and everything besides the facts and what exactly the Jan. 6 committee is investigating, and then hope you can continue to benefit from the ignorance of your constituency.
Like these Republican Party sycophants, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is also good at social media. And while Ocasio-Cortez is not on the Jan. 6 committee, she is a democratically elected official, sworn to uphold the laws of our land. Doing her part, Ocasio-Cortez took to her Twitter account and began to lay waste to the hypocrites that consider themselves Republican Party leaders. Starting with a pitch perfect smack down of Florida man, and suspected sex trafficker of a minor, Rep. Matt Gaetz, Ocasio-Cortez was not playing around.

Rep. Jim Jordan, best known for being suspected of complicity in the sexual assault of college-aged young men who were under his care when he was an assistant coach at Ohio State University, decided that the best angle to take on Jan. 6 was to attack calls for common-sense gun safety legislation. Jordan tweeted, “When’s the primetime hearing on record crime in Democrat-run cities?” Get it? Black people are terrifying to old Mr. Jordan. Black people and the threat of losing his job as an assistant coach if he were to speak up on behalf of the numerous former Ohio State University wrestlers who say Jordan knew of the sexual abuse of students by then-team doctor Richard Strauss.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez remembers.
Kaboom. Jordan, if you have forgotten, has been very cagey, obviously frightened, and pathetically craven in his attempts to not comply with the Jan. 6 committee’s request he speak with them about his conversations with Donald Trump before, during, and after the events of that day.
Keeping with that theme, the official House Judiciary GOP social media account attempted to undercut the proceedings by calling the televised presentation “All. Old. News.” Ocasio-Cortez had an answer for that as well.
Let’s also remember that our radically Christian conservative Supreme Court has also been compromised by this attempted coup d’etat. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez hasn’t forgotten.
I’m sure we will get to read about the numerous emails the wife of a SITTING SUPREME COURT JUSTICE sent to various legislators in an attempt to get them overturn their election results, in the coming weeks. Ocasio-Cortez also retweeted others, boosting their signals in order to remind folks how compromised many on the right in the right-wing propaganda machine are.
And she made sure to highlight the fact that whether you believe this was simply an impromptu riot or an actual coordinated attempt to use a chaotic event to try and overtake the government, the Republican Party has made it clear that they are against the Capitol police officers who tried to protect the people who were lawfully in the Capitol building that day.
A quick read-out of those representatives, since I’m sure they want to be recognized for their service to Donald Trump and the boots they are licking.

An UPDATE: Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is making sure to bring Reps. Boebert and Greene into the public conversation because they are truly wretched people.
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez also tried to remind the traditional media, and many Americans, that if they can’t be bothered to care about an attempted coup d’etat, maybe they can at least report on how the GOP is working tirelessly to make sure gas prices continue to surge.
