There are no doubt some MAGA true-believers and Trump disciples among those who ran in the GOP primaries, but my impression is that at least some, perhaps a significant number, of those who while campaigning kissed Trump’s ring, licked his boots, and — to keep this more or less clean I won’t suggest symbolic obscene acts, think he is a bloviating narcissistic flaming A-hole who may or may not be mentally ill.
They’ve been expressing their support, and often their admiration extending to adoration, of him so as not to alienate his base and looe against other at least somewhat honest Republicans who have taken Trump’s measure and seen him for who is, and who have not pretended to drink the Trump Kool Aide.
Here’s an example of one of them apologizing for losing to a non-MAGA to, horrors, a GOP candidate who criticized an opponent over January 6th.:
I have no idea how many are bothered by their public hypocrisy and go home after lying their F’n asses off about being a Trump MAGA this way and throw up, or at least if they are religious, pray for forgiveness. I hope a few of them do, but I have my doubts
