Has any-one thought about how to force the Living Wage issue down The Republicans throats? I have and it seems so simple to me but, I just don’t know whom to pass it on to. It works like this, make the living wage connected to any and all tax cuts, including making employers prove that their company is paying their employees enough to live on and that the employee is not required to collect any type of social services in order to live a decent life. The required proof is already submitted on a annual bases anyway, and a line can be added for the personal income tax forms to be checked, plus with all the inter-government agencies reporting to each other, no company could ever lie on this requirement.
I know that Republicans would just try to remove this law, but that is also the icing on the cake, by making the Republicans look like they are anti-worker, for which we already know they are.
Since it is the low wage paying companies that is causing most of the need for Social Service Programs, this would be a way to force these companies to either pay better wages, or contribute to the Social Safety Net with the tax monies they might have saved by paying the living wage. It becomes a win-win for Democrats in the long run.
Now I’m not the smarts guy on this site, and I may not even be right about this idea. So maybe there is some-one that could help me with this idea, or help me get it passed up the ladder to the right person. Also if I’m wrong, maybe some-one could correct me.
