Greetings and oof! welcome to another little fuzzy-headed, open-threaded community diary.
This week brought to you by sore shoulders--
We had something of an extended weekend out in the country. Just got back into town Tuesday, heading out again in a few minutes.
With my lads and an extra day of help from their cousin, my nephew, we managed to tear out and rebuild a low stone and brick wall that had been falling apart in super-slow motion. It had consisted of some fairly hefty sandstone blocks set atop a bed of natural clay with some red brick tossed in. It was something of a retaining wall as the floor inside the barn came nearly to the top of the wall. Outside, nearly the whole wall was visible, while the decades of frosts and the general tendency of the land to creep closer to the creek across the road meant that the foundationless blocks and bricks had buckled out and were kinda getting away from the wooden structure of the barn above it.
We had to scoot back to the big city for a birthday party: this time Fabulous Sister-In-Law and her boyfriend were both celebrating.
And if anyone’s wondering, I’ve been in contact with Michelewln. Her computer should be coming together on Sunday. She’s unable to access Daily Kos with her phone and still dealing with pneumonia.
Thanks for stopping by.
