From tea party to pee tarty, this is where we are now with right-wing craziness pimped by previous guy. One guy storms an FBI field office because he thinks he's Crispus Attucks, and is now in a standoff hiding in an Ohio field. Earlier reports had him armed with both a nail gun and an AR15-pattern modern sporting rifle. He exchanged shots with Ohio State Police from a field in which he’d been surrounded and is now deceased.
“The suspect who attacked the FBI field office in Cincinnati has been killed by law enforcement, according to two officials familiar with the matter. His name is Ricky Walter Shiffer. He was at the Capitol on Jan. 6. Reporting from @jonathan4ny and @ryanjreilly”
Officers fatally shot the suspect after failing to negotiate with him, Ohio State Police spokesman Lt. Nathan Dennis told reporters.
The man raised a gun and officers opened fire, Dennis said.
It wasn't clear if he fired, Dennis said, nor was it clear who fired the fatal shot. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, which Dennis described as a rural area off Interstate 71.
No officers were injured and a potential motive is still under investigation, Dennis said.

In a perhaps related development, Merrick Garland just spoke for the Justice Department and the FBI in a press conference, moving to unseal the document. This means that whatever Trump refused to turn over will be revealed. Trump will undoubtedly deflect attention to something more trivial than whatever classified material was the primary target of the weeks-long negotiation.
Will he claim that he had a right as a former (or actual) POTUS that he had a right to keep souvenirs regardless of their “national interest”. Trump has until 3pm tomorrow to object. Trump's immediate response to the Garland announcement was to whine about President Obama’s presidential library, which could be a tease for his own, oxymoronic presidential library.
Police have exchanged gunfire with an armed man after he made threats at an FBI building in Cincinnati, according to reports.
The incident began Thursday morning after a man armed with a gun showed up to the building and began making threats, the FBI said in a statement.
“At approximately 9 AM this morning an armed subject attempted to breach the Visitor Screening Facility at #FBI Cincinnati,” the FBI’s Cincinnati bureau said on Twitter. “After an alarm and a response by FBI special agents, the subject fled north onto Interstate 71.”
Police later exchanged gunfire with the suspect after he pulled over, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a statement to HuffPost.
Clinton County, Ohio’s Emergency Management Agency has issued a lockdown order for a 1-mile radius near the FBI building. The suspect is described as wearing a gray shirt and body armor, and was driving a Ford Crown Victoria.
Yes, libraries will often drop any case against patrons once the items are returned, but they don't control the various fees and charges that accompany farming out the collection to law enforcement.
Like the fall in the world fertilizer index, oblique messaging for Trump is usually ham or piglet-handed, so his immediate response to the Garland press briefing is a holding action. Considering his usual pattern of lawfare, he will likely object to the DoJ request to unseal the search warrant. Darn billable hours.
Trump responded to the press briefing not by attacking Garland or proclaiming his innocence. Instead, Trump attacked Obama.
"I continue to ask, what happened to the 33 Million pages of documents taken to Chicago by President Obama?" Trump raged on his social media site. "The Fake News Media refuses to talk about that. They want it CANCELED!"
Trump appears to be referring to records shipped to Chicago for Obama's presidential library.
"As was reported back in late 2016, the Obama team was transferring the records to Chicago through the National Archives, which legally owns the documents once a president leaves office," the Washington Post wrote in a fact-checking article earlier this week. "Once the documents ultimately reached a warehouse in Chicago, the Obama Foundation was then due to pay the National Archives and Record Administration to digitize the documents. The lengthiness of that process aside, there isn’t the faintest hint of legal violations."
