This morning I heard a conservative radio talk show host say that Trump is monopolizing the attention of the media. Describing what he heard on the radio during his commute, he claimed to have heard Trump’s name dozens of times and that of Joe Biden, the actual President of the United States, not once.
I found that interesting, because I’ve long felt that Donald Trump gets far more attention than he deserves. This is an election year, and Trump isn’t even one of the candidates, yet he’s all over the airwaves.
There are serious problems with the way the public airwaves are regulated in this country. The perverse economic incentives of the business of broadcasting have resulted in the apotheosis of a con artist.
