It’s August, and it’s hot here. We’ve been in the grip of a heat wave, and we are NOT close enough to the beaches of New England that it’s a ‘comfortable’ 95F. The pups think the kiddie pool we bought them to splash around in is a supersized water bowl, and have been drinking accordingly whenever they’re out. The younger pup wants to go on walks, but if we go any time other than early morning or dusk he’s gonna burn his feet, so instead he’s either in the back yard or sleeping in the house… truly, winter is going to be his season! And thanks to the oppressive heat I’m 26 miles behind on my 2022 walking challenge and need to make that up ASAP once I can safely add an extra 2-3 miles per day during daylight!
My brain is fried and while I wish I had a coherent diary inside, all I can think of is dogs, and heat. So let’s call up a few appropriate songs:
This is the first song I thought of. The title couldn’t be more on-topic, could it?
Next up, a song that makes me cry when I watch the video but sums up perfectly who dogs are to us:
My favorite ‘dog song’ is Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog, but my favorite rendition of it is by a capella wizards Five O’Clock Shadow. So I give you their mashup of Black Dog and Kiss:
What other song could I choose during a heat wave, except this one:
Well, maybe this more recent one:

My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down. From inkstainedwretch:
From News Corpse’s KARINE JEAN-PIERRE Has to School Peter Doocy of FOX News that Lower Gas Prices Are a Good Thing comes this top comment by MarcKyle64. Mainstream media would probably babble about free press if Faux Nuuze sworn testimony about not being a news source were ever accepted as anything but the lie they used to dodge liability. (Libel, I think.)
From Tara the Antisocial Social Worker:
In April Siese's front page diary on the FBI raid of Mar-a-lago, PvtJarHead puts a new spin on a well-known quote from TFG.
