Last Saturday, 61-year-old Jan Stawovy of Hempfield, Pennsylvania was arrested after bystanders alerted authorities on an armed man donning a rainbow clown wig and yellow safety vest when he was about to enter into a Dairy Queen in Delmont, about 35-40 minutes east of Pittsburgh. Barely a minute has passed, and Officer Gregory Stull appeared at the restaurant; Stull spotted a clownish Stawovy, and took him into custody.
According to police, Stawovy, who possessed a .40 calibre handgun and ammo, admitted to cops that he was working “undercover” to “restore Trump to president king of the United States”. Stawovy also admitted to his desires of “[killing] Democrats and liberals” and protecting himself from drug traffickers. Through a search warrant, authorities have recovered two loaded handguns and 62 rounds of ammo from his car.
When one looks at Jan Stawovy’s Facebook profile, one can find pro-Trump content and even letters from Christian congregations that pleaded for Stawovy to not threaten them, especially not in a clown costume. Stawovy, who called for “civil war in 2024”, deemed these letters to be “love letters”.
The Delmont Borough Police Department were commended for their quick response to a potential mass shooting. Currently, Stawovy is facing multiple criminal charges, which include terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, and carrying a weapon unlicensed.
