Happy Friday! Bit is supposed to have a short day today. We’ll see, I won’t hold my breath on that one.
I wanted to tell you a little tale about the outdoor kittens, Merlin’s kittens that happened the other night.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

I went to let Sophie out before bed, I have a 20 foot leash that I can put on her and stand at the top of the steps (or sit on the arm of the sofa) while she potties, so I don’t have to risk going down the steps when I’m feeling shaky.
I opened the door to two kittens sitting tight against the door (about 6 weeks old). Sophie sniffed at them, because she loves kittens, and has been missing Dori. Merlin, the kittens mom, is fine with Sophie and rubs up against her all the time, Sophie is *very* cat friendly.
Well Londo, so named because he’s the hissy kitten, was so startled he rolled down the stairs. Kosh just ran off and to the side, he was fine. Londo wasn’t hurt, thankfully, but it scared the bejeebus out of him. He was hissing and spitting at Sophie so much she wouldn’t go down the stairs to go potty.
I had to call Draco to sit down on the step between the kitten and Sophie so she would go down. This caught Merlin’s attention and she came over and rubbed on Sophie and was looking at her hissing/spitting progeny sideways LOL. Draco got the kitten calmed down enough to actually let him pet him a little by the end of it.
But poor Sophie was all confused. So we’ve had to go out several times over the past few days so she could check on the kittens. And they’ve all stopped hissing at her. Londo actually got close enough to boop noses before he took off to play with his siblings.
I caught these pics on the fly. Missing is the all black kitten named Kosh. All Babylon 5 names. The two kittens we are getting for indoors, the Russian Greys are going to be Ivanova (grey) and Lyta (black), also Babylon 5 names. We’ve been telling Sophie we’re getting kittens, and we think she believes the outdoor 3 are hers.
Lyta dealing with Londo.
Kosh:
This is the line that decided us to name the Russian Blue kitten after Ivanova. Seems like a good mantra for a cat.
Delenn can be a little bit Hissy, but she is more chill than Londo, and more likely to put herself between the other two kittens and Sophie.
