While trying to figure out what to do about Trunp’s motion for a special master, judge Ailleen Cannot just ordered the more detailed inventory of the documents to be unsealed (as initially urged by Trump lawyers and, perhaps, more recently opposed by them).
The sheer volume of documents and the number of classified items is certainly concerning, but we have already processed that shock. Not surprisingly, a lot of the stuff seems like mementoes — lots of pictures and press clippings.
What ithe inventory reveals is that among the collection of secret and top secret items are a fair number of folders and document covers that are now empty. That is a real concern because it suggests Trump may already have sent those off someplace.
I suppose the answer could be those things are elsewhere in the stack, kicking around loose. The security guys will go through it more thoroughly and figure out if loose items should go back into the folders, or if stuff is missing.
For now all we can do is continue to be concerned.
