Warwickshire MP Nadhim Zahawi is under huge pressure to cling onto his job after admitting a “careless and not deliberate” tax error related to a shareholding in YouGov. The Stratford MP released a statement on Saturday (January 21) to “address some of the confusion about my finances”, after it was reported that he paid HMRC a seven-figure sum to end a dispute.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has now ordered his independent ethics adviser to look into the matter as "clearly in this case there are questions that need answering". Mr Zahawi's non-ministerial movements have long attracted scrutiny.
