Chuvashia is a small Russian republic east of Moscow. These 120 volunteers came all the way to Ukraine to get HIMARed and sent back home as corpses or disabled.
The effed around. They found out.
2/ The 'Angry Chuvashia' Telegram channel reports that while it was preparing to move on 29 October, the 1st battalion of the 1251st Motorised Rifle Regiment was struck by GMLRS missiles fired by Ukrainian forces. The regiment includes many Chuvashians, one of whom commands it.
3/ According to survivors, up to 120 men were killed or wounded, with 10 KAMAZ and UAZ trucks destroyed. The volunteer battalion, known as Atal and formed from local residents in mid-2022, was "almost completely destroyed."
5/ Angry Chuvashia reports that the Chuvash authorities have warned people about commenting on the attack: "Inaccurate mention of a rumor is considered dissemination of false information, and reposting dubious materials may result in liability."
6/ Despite this warning, uncorroborated lists of the casualties have been circulating. So far, 19 are reported to be dead and another 40 wounded, but this cannot be confirmed or denied and may well be only a partial accounting. /end
300,000 Russian casualties. If Russia loses 500 soldiers a day, it’ll hit half a million in a little over a year.
This number is, of course, from the Ukrainian government, which many folks assert must be inflated because governments always do that. The truth is that nobody has an accurate number and there likely never will be one.
If it isn’t 300k, it probably isn’t far away from that.

An update on the story from yesterday about the family of nine that were killed as they slept. Russia actually arrested somebody.
7/ Investigators are said to have been working on the theory that a member of the Kapanets family was involved in the sale of alcohol to soldiers. The VChK-OGPU Telegram channel reports that two possible motives have been advanced:
8/ "According to the first, the execution was carried out due to a conflict with dissatisfied customers or the military personnel were used as killers by competitors.
9/ According to the second version, the family was dealt with by “fighters against drunkenness in positions” from Wagner or “Kadyrov’s men.” This was supported by the testimony of neighbors who stated that “Kadyrov’s men on a motorcycle” came to the 'showdown.'"
Russia continues to try to blame Ukraine or the West or anybody else for its failure to control anti-semitic mobs in Dagestan.
If Russia can’t control anti-semitic mobs, it won’t have much luck controlling anti-government mobs either — not that that’s going to happen any time soon.
Russia has fired more than $22 billion worth of missiles at Ukraine.
There will be many thousands of Ukrainians who will need care and rehab.
