I would like to enlist the aid of those of you of a certain age (most of us, amIright?) in a test of recall. Both my wife and I remember an atrocious pun by the late Walter Cronkite that we have been unable to locate on Google. It must have been from the 1970’s, and it was the final news item of the broadcast. The setup is vague in our memories, but the punchline pun we remember verbatim. It involved the military use of poisoned amphibians as a silent weapon of sorts, and Cronkite finished with the tagline… Toadal warfare in the mysterious orient. And that’s the way it is.
I heard it. My wife heard it. Somewhere out in the infinite internet universe, there must be a clip. There just must be. Do any of you remember this masterpiece of a pun?
